Join us each month for fun hands-on workshops where you will learn how to grow food using natural and sustainable methods that’s don’t rely on chemical fertilizers or pesticides and prepare healthy dishes using produce from your garden! Participants will be given FREE gardening supplies and fresh produce to take home at each workshop so you can put gardening strategies and new cooking skills to use right away!  Please arrive on time and come prepared to stay for the entire workshop. You will be taking part in hands on gardening activities so please dress appropriately in layers and clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Garden Gateway is a program that facilitates the learning and sharing of food growing skills, healthy cooking and drinking, and knowledge about the connections between what we eat and our health. The free 10 week series takes place (mostly) on the second Saturday of each month September to June from 9 am to Noon. Check the calendar to confirm workshop dates. The first half of the workshop focuses on natural garden methods, and the second half on healthy food preparation. Gardening activities are hands on and recipe demos are based on every day easy to grow and/or access ingredients.

CSU partners with UC Coop Extension to offer the Garden Gateway Home Gardening certificate program. Individuals who participate in a pre determined number of Garden Gateway workshops between September and June are eligible to become certified and possibly help to deliver Garden Gateway workshops in the future! Upon successful completion of this program ongoing participants can become a Garden Gateway Mentor; helping to deliver GG sessions.
