In 2007 CSU created the Village Market Place (VMP) social enterprise to complement our education and training programs, and meet the growing demand for good (affordable, beyond organic, culturally appropriate, exploitation-free) food in South Central Los Angeles. The VMP grew from hosting weekly produce stands and providing produce bag subscriptions, to offering catering services, producing a signature line of value added products, to operating the Village Market Place Food Hub on the ground floor of the Paul Robeson Community Wellness Center! The VMP aims to increase access to healthy, affordable, high quality local foods, create local jobs, and expand support for regional small farmers and other local small business owners.
